Speed dating has become a huge part of our culture in the last ten years. We live increasingly fast lives and speed dates give us the perfect opportunity to find love quickly. And finding this love quickly shows just how fast paced we can live our lives nowadays.
Within one hour we can find out so much about someone so very quickly. We can find out their past dating history and their family past also. In fact there is very little you cannot find out about someone's background within the first hour. Their character and personality is very difficult to find out within an hour but the face value of things can be established in a very short space of time.
Unfortunately the face value of things is not enough to build a lasting relationship off. There are many people out there looking to exploit the speed of dating and looking for sex instead of relationships. They come to it under the assumption that speed is the name of the game, and that all aspects of the dates will be speedy. Including how fast you will end up under the bed sheets.
Now you may consider there to be nothing wrong with this. After all they have come to the date and put themselves on the line so why shouldn't they expect things. But the majority of people that go to speed dating are vulnerable. They may be confident but a lot of them are looking for love and they will pick up signs more easily than those who are not on speed dates.
Speed dates are renowned for their interaction and the ability to move on quickly. Well given this fact it is no wonder that when women especially, more so than men, find someone who is interested in them, they are going to be willing to follow it up. They will be more willing to follow this up than your average person on the street. And this is where the exploitation comes into the equation.
Speed dates in their essence are fine things. They allow mostly working professionals the chance to meet someone of a similar mold. Undoubtedly there are success stories of speed dates being allowed to flourish but there are also many horror stories I am sure. So if you are thinking about going on with it, just err on the side of caution. Be aware of the risks and don't allow yourself to be vulnerable. Otherwise you could end up a whole lot worse off.
